It's true that AG Gonzalez will not go down as one of the best in the nation's history. However, we should not sit back and left the angry left punch him at will.
"Why then do we bother to defend him when we believe he's being unfairly attacked?
First, Senate Democrats and their MSM helpers have no more right to level unfair charges against Gonzales than they did against John Roberts and Sam Alito, notwithstanding the greater merit of these two men. A smear is a smear.
Second, it's important (and clearly legitimate) to expose smears by the likes of Leahy, Schumer, and Feingold (and in this case, unfortunately, Specter) in order to diminish their credibility when it comes to future battles in which they engage in similar conduct."
That's right. The angry left is out to get Alberto and we should not allow it. Frankly, I hate bullies and the angry left is full of bullies.
Rich Lowry is right:
"This is a grave political miscalculation.
Absent a Watergate-style smoking gun, or at least some plausible whiff of gunpowder, voters aren’t interested in scandal monomania.
The only political effect of the investigative onslaught is to please the bloodthirsty Democratic “netroots” who are desperate for excuses to try to impeach Bush, while convincing voters that Washington is a disgusting cockpit of partisan rancor oblivious to their true concerns.
There is a reason President Bush can be at 28 percent approval and still double Congress’ rating in some polls.
But Democrats can’t help themselves. They’ve held more than 600 oversight hearings so far, and these hearings are close to their only accomplishment.
The Democratic majority brings to mind a paraphrase of the old saw about teaching: Those who can, legislate. Those who can’t, investigate." (
The Democrats Are Scandal Addicts!)
Also, where are the Hispanic organizations, such as LULAC and the others?
Why won't they defend a fellow Hispanic under siege by a bunch of white guys?
Wouldn't LULAC go into a war footing if a bunch of white guys were going after a liberal Hispanic?
Frankly, LULAC's silence is interesting. Could it be that Gonzalez is a conservative Republican and LULAC does not like those of us who do not want to live in the liberal plantation?
Gonzalez must be defended. I believe that more and more Republicans are getting the message that this is a witch hunt!
