The Dems and Iraq

The latest Dems' debate was OK. I did not hear anything worth quoting.

The best question was the one left unanswered. ("Were you tricked"?)

Hillary Clinton went into an amazing explanation about how Pres. Bush did not live up to giving the inspectors a chance to look for WMDs.

This is not a new line. She has tried this before. It is her latest way of explaining the war vote without admitting that it was a mistake, as John Edwards.

It's a very tricky dance! It works in front of Democrats who simply cover their noses and pretend. It won't work when she is standing next to Giuliani, McCain, Thompson or Romney. They are not going to let her get away with it! (HILLARY’S HYPOCRISY ON IRAQ By Dick Morris and Eileen McGann)

By the way, this explanation does not go over well with the leftist bloggers either! (Hillary Clinton's history lesson by Matthew Yglesias)

Someone from the press desk asked: Were you tricked, Senator Clinton?

We did not get an answer to that question.

Why? Because Senator Clinton will have to admit that her husband, the former president, lied to her about Saddam's WMDs, too.

What do you do when your husband goes on national TV, orders an attack on Iraq and claims that Saddam has WMDs. Check your calendar! December 16, 1998!

What do you do when VP Gore goes on TV and blasts Bush-41 for leaving Saddam in power? (Watch this Video.)

What do you do when you vote for the war by claiming a connection between Saddam and Al Qaeda?

Frankly, Senator Clinton needs to answer the "were you tricked" question?

This woman wants to be president of the US but she allows herself to be tricked by a bunch of CIA bureaucrats!

Beyond that moment, it was the usual attack on Bush-Cheney, insurance companies, etc.

On Iraq, the Democrats are now talking about keeping a residual force to fight Al Qaeda and protect our interests.

Of course, this is what Pres. Bush is doing.

Also, this is not what the anti-war voters elected them to do. How many of these Dems say in the last election that their goal was to leave troops in Iraq?

Overall, I don't think that there is a person on that stage who can go one on one with Giuliani, McCain, Thompson or Romney.

No one on that stage has had any executive experience, except for Gov. Richardson. At the same time, New Mexico is a very small state.

There are legislators on that stage. Yet, we have not elected a legislator since John Kennedy in 1960. Before that, I can't think of another one! (Governors Win)

The polling date confirms my point.

Despite all of Pres. Bush's problems, the head to head polls show that the Dems are stuck in 40s. It can not be very encouraging to know that their candidates can't break out at a time like this.

At the same time, this is what happens when you put lightweights like Obama, Edwards and Clinton on the stage. (Sorry Joe Biden. You are the only adult on that playground!)
